In Mexico, a toy replaced a baby monkey's mother.
Baby Punch has a new brother in misfortune. Baby Yuji has almost exactly the same fate as the monkey from the Japanese zoo.
His mother was unable to care for newborn Yuji. Zoo staff then gave him a stuffed animal to compensate for the absence of a parental figure.
However, according to veterinarians, Yuji's instinct to cuddle his soft companion is an age-related necessity, not just a behavioral trait.
"Little monkeys cling (to their mother), and at that age, all their security comes from their mother. So we replace her absence with a stuffed animal... It's completely natural behavior for him," a zoo employee shared.
Photos of Yuji are gaining popularity on social media. Users have dubbed him "the new Punch."
