We recently introduced you to the Tibetan fox, the leading ambassador of the "sour" face in the wild. But it turns out they have a worthy competitor. Meet the Panamanian cat!
These are among the most diverse wild cats in appearance. They exhibit a remarkable variability in coat color and pattern.
Different individuals can exhibit:
• Striped patterning - like a small tiger;
• Spotted patterning - reminiscent of a leopard;
• Almost uniform gray or red;
• Darker, almost black forms.
The length of the coat, the density of the "mane" on the neck, and the strength of the pattern can also vary.
Because of these differences, scientists previously believed they were several different species. But later, genetic studies showed that they all belong to the same species.
