Chinese invigorating coffee that you probably won't want to try
For some time, a cafe in the city of Dongyang served eggs boiled in children's urine with coffee. This dish has a long history and is considered part of the city's cultural heritage.
A cafe in China offered invigorating coffee with... eggs boiled in boys' urine.
An unusual drink has appeared at a cafe in Dongyang, Zhejiang Province. This "delicacy" is based on a local tradition: it is believed to help combat drowsiness in the spring and prevent heatstroke in the summer. The drink costs 28 yuan ($4). The establishment claims to sell over 100 servings a day on weekends.
Eggs prepared in this way have a long history and have even been included in the city's intangible cultural heritage list since 2008. Similar practices were also common in traditional medicine in ancient times. At the Dongyang cafe, you can eat the egg on its own or mix it with a drink.
However, modern doctors harshly criticize such food, calling it unsafe and unhealthy. The drink sparked a mixed reaction online, and following a wave of criticism, the cafe removed it from the menu.
