Tetris on the Cover of a Magazine

An unusual cover for a gaming magazine issue that lets its owner play Tetris.

It seems like Tetris has been running on everything. But Red Bull managed to surprise. The company released a gaming issue of The Red Bulletin, and 150 copies have a working Tetris game on the cover.

Hidden inside the cover is a 0.1 mm-thick flexible board with 180 RGB LEDs, which form the screen. There are no buttons—instead, capacitive sensors imprinted directly into the copper layer of the board. When you press on the paper, it bends slightly, creating a tactile response. The brain, an ARM processor, and four button batteries are hidden near the spine. And at the bottom of the cover is a USB-C port for charging. The battery lasts a couple of hours.

The gaming copies were not released for general sale—all 150 copies were given to tournament participants and the press.
