Unstable snow cover in the mountains triggered several avalanches in Italy. One of them entombed vacationers at the Italian ski resort of Courmayeur.
A powerful avalanche engulfed skiers at the Courmayeur resort in Italy. According to La Repubblica, three people died. They were buried under a meter and a half of snow, and rescuers were unable to save them. The region remains at high risk of avalanches. Resort areas remain at risk of further snowfalls.
In the first week of February, 13 skiers, climbers, and hikers died in the Italian Alps. Ten people died in avalanches.
