In Georgia, a light aircraft made a hard, emergency landing on a busy highway in Gainesville.
The pilot of the Beechcraft Hawker G-36 reported engine failure shortly after takeoff and, unable to return to the airport, decided to land on Browns Bridge Highway.
Upon landing, the aircraft struck several cars. According to Gainesville police, at least four people were injured in the incident: two on board the aircraft and two drivers whose cars were hit. Doctors say the victims are not life-threatening.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has begun an investigation into the cause of the technical failure.
