Superstition Mountains: what are they (4 photos)
In 2010, three adventurers from Utah set out in search of the legendary gold mines that had lured prospectors since the 16th century. Arriving in Arizona, they stayed at a hotel and the next day set out for the Superstition Mountains, where legend has it a gigantic vein of gold lies hidden. But by evening, they had not returned, and no one had seen them the following day either. Contact was lost, and a massive rescue operation was launched. Their empty car was discovered at the foot of the mountains, but there was no trace of the adventurers themselves. It was only in 2011 that their bodies were found in a ravine. Whether they fell or were pushed remains a mystery. Since then, stories of a curse that has claimed the lives of gold hunters for centuries have regained popularity.
