70-year-old Chinese man shares the secret of his impressive physique (6 photos)
Even as a young man, Zou Heping would go for a grueling jog at 5:30 a.m. and then go to work. Now he is 70 years old, and his grandfather with perfect abs conquers mountains with ease.
"Life is about running, and the most important thing is to exercise, stay fit and live a healthy lifestyle," Heping said.
A man's love for running began 45 years ago, in 1979, when he read in a magazine about the benefits of this sport.
He started by running uphill. His current regimen includes weighted pull-ups, rope climbing, handstands and step jumping from the base of Mount Gele to the top (more than 2,500 steps).
For 40 years now, a native of Chongqing has not drunk alcohol or smoke, and goes to bed early.
Social media users praised Zou's fitness:
"He can't be 70, 50 at the most."
"Yes, it's Spider-Man."
"Exercises like this are very beneficial for flexibility and joint mobility. This is the key to maintaining a youthful body."
Researchers at the University of Kentucky found that a 150-pound person can burn 633 calories per hour climbing hills with a 20-pound load. While mountaineering, the same person will burn 563 calories.
