This remarkable stone, nicknamed the "Star of the Pure Land," is the largest documented natural purple sapphire, weighing 3,563 carats. Its market value is estimated at between $300 million and $400 million.
According to one of its owners, the gem was found in a location near Ratnapura, known as the "City of Gems." The stone was discovered in a gem pit in 2023 along with other minerals, and two years later, the owners realized they had found something special. Sri Lankan sapphires are renowned for their unique hue, clarity, and vibrant sparkle, making them valuable not only as jewelry but also as part of global jewelry history.
