Thousands of crabs escaped from an overturned truck

A truck carrying approximately 15,000 live crabs overturned in northern Ireland. The accident damaged the containers carrying the crabs, destined for restaurants and stores in Portugal, and the crustaceans escaped. Ten people collected the crabs by hand from the road and a nearby field.
The total value of the cargo was $70,000. Ten people were deployed to collect the escaped crabs. The highway was closed. An 18-hour operation resulted in the recovery of approximately 95% of the cargo.
