The “piggy bank” was planted by a truck carrying money to thieves from the United States. The robbers expected to fill their wallet with bills, but had to be content with dimes. Millions of dimes. But not for long.





Robberies are a dime a dozen in the United States, but one in particular puzzled investigators.

The fact is that the robbers stole $234,500 from a truck with money. But there is a nuance - all the cash was in 10-cent coins.

In total, the van transported $750,000 in bags weighing about 6 tons to Miami, The Guardian writes.

The driver was just tired on the road and decided to stop for a rest, which the thieves took advantage of - they broke into the truck and took out some of the money, scattering thousands of coins throughout the parking lot.



Surveillance video shows six men wearing gray hoodies breaking into the truck and placing dimes in smaller bags. The robbers then escape in a car. Meanwhile, thousands of coins remain scattered across a parking lot in Northeast Philadelphia.

The adventures of the crooks did not end there - the court materials say that the suspects managed to steal frozen crabs, shrimp, meat, beer and liquor from other trucks, albeit in other parking lots.



The thieves tried to sell perishable goods over the Internet while attempting to exchange dimes for more convenient denominations at four banks and various coin exchange machines in Pennsylvania and Maryland.

However, the loser thieves managed to cash out less than a few thousand dollars.

The suspects, 25-year-old Rakiem Savage, 31-year-old Ronald Byrd, 30-year-old Hanif Palmer and 32-year-old Malik Palmer, are charged with conspiracy, robbery and theft.

If the men are found guilty, the US justice system will send them to prison for decades each.
