The world's longest highway tunnel has opened in China, according to China National Radio. The Tianshan Shengli Tunnel, over 22 kilometers long, has opened on the Urumqi-Weili highway in Xinjiang. Construction began in 2020, with an investment of 46.7 billion yuan. Since its completion, travel time through the mountains has been reduced from several hours to 20 minutes.
