1. Byodo-in Temple, Valley of the Temples Memorial Park, Oahu, Hawaii

The temple is located at the foot of the Ko'olau Mountains near the town of Kaneohe. It was built in 1968 as an exact replica of an 11th-century Japanese temple in Kyoto bearing the same name. Construction was timed to coincide with the centennial of the arrival of the first Japanese settlers to Hawaii to work on sugar plantations.

The temple complex includes a three-meter-tall Buddha statue. The walls and curved roof edges are decorated with images of the mythical Ho-o (Phoenix), and the building itself is called the Ho-o-do, or Phoenix Hall. A three-ton Copper Peace Bell is installed to the left of the temple.

It is noteworthy that this is not a functioning Buddhist temple in the traditional sense, as there is no permanent monastic community or regular worship services.

2. Stowe Community Church in Stowe, Vermont, USA

The church was built in 1863 in the colonial style typical of New England. In 1918, a significant event occurred—the unification of local religious communities, which led to its transformation into a non-denominational church.

In October 2024, its 23-meter spire was temporarily dismantled for repairs, but by April of the following year, it had been restored to its original appearance.
