Mountains in China completely covered in solar panels were filmed from above
Guizhou Province boasts mountain ranges that were considered economically useless for decades: steep slopes, unstable climate, and zero suitability for construction or agriculture. This terrain was officially classified as "unused land assets."
Today, these same slopes are covered with continuous rows of solar panels.
According to regional energy reports, installations began in 2015, and within a few years, they have transformed part of the mountain range into a fully-fledged power grid.
Open sources provide estimates of generation at around 10-15 million kWh per year, depending on the season and the size of the active sites.
The technical logic is simple and pragmatic:
- the mountain slope ensures an optimal angle of light incidence;
- the high point reduces dust pollution and improves efficiency stability;
- land otherwise unsuitable for any other purpose yields maximum power generation.
