An unpleasant incident occurred at an exhibition in Beijing. A young visitor was attracted by a hand-crafted gold crown, reached for it, and hit the protective cube. The precious exhibit, valued at $300,000, fell to the floor.

The video was posted by Chinese blogger Zhang Kaiyi, who also organized the exhibition.

The gold crown is a unique wedding decoration created by the gallery owner's husband.

Zhang noted that the crown has significant personal significance, and she shared the video to seek expert advice on how to assess the damage.

The message reminded visitors to the exhibition not to touch the exhibits.

The incident sparked a heated online debate about liability and compensation.

Zhang later said she did not want to blame the child and did not seek compensation from his family, as the crown was insured.

Lawyers quoted by Chinese media claim that compensation could include repair costs, total loss of value, and potential intangible damages related to the crown's special significance.

Jewelers note that repairing gold jewelry can be as expensive as completely remaking it. An expert valued the two-kilogram gold piece at at least $300,000.

Zhang added that the exhibition was free and did not generate any income.
