Last week, the Crown Princess cruise ship was caught in a storm off the coast of New Zealand. Strong winds caused the ship to change course near Milford Sound in the southwest of the South Island. Sixteen passengers and crew were injured.
The Crown Princess cruise ship was in the middle of a two-week voyage when it was caught in a storm. The ship began to rock and tilt. Footage from the kitchen showed plates, pots and pans falling to the floor and food flying around as the cruise ship took the brunt of the storm.
People in cafes and restaurants desperately grabbed onto anything they could to stay on their feet. Water splashed out of pools every time the ship tilted.

"Tables and chairs were sliding around the room, and one girl fell off her chair into the pool," one passenger said.
Another witness said he was "walking around the deck and suddenly felt the ship tilt." "I had to hold on!" he said.

Perfume and skin care products fell off the shelves at the cruise ship's gift shop. Glass display cases were smashed and designer bags were found on the floor.

According to Princess Cruises, the crew responded quickly to the situation and the safety of passengers and crew was not at risk.
