In the early 2000s, Oakley wasn't just a pair of sunglasses—it was a cultural phenomenon, and every celebrity owned at least a pair. Jim Janerd founded the company in 1975, but back then, all he made were motorcycle grips. One day, while riding in California, he thought, "Why aren't there sunglasses that look like ski masks?" And so the brand's future direction was determined. In 1992, Jim discovered something astonishing—a 3D printer. He then began making sunglasses that looked like they belonged on aliens. He drew inspiration from science fiction films and military prototypes—each pair had a strange shape, surprising colors, and unusual lenses.
