A Bear Lived in the Basement of a Private Home in the US for Several Months
A California resident discovered a large bear had taken up residence in his basement.
Kenneth Johnson began noticing strange things in his Altadena home—bricks ripped out of the basement and broken window frames.
He installed a camera and, through surveillance, discovered a bear had taken up residence in his basement.
"I don't know how it got there. It must be an acrobat. This thing is so big its belly touches the ground," he said.
According to camera footage obtained by Johnson, the bear has a yellow tag on its left ear. Its gender is unknown, and its fur is brown, but authorities have not yet determined its species.
According to Johnson, the bear isn't aggressive—some neighbors have already seen it in the area. Camera footage shows the animal leaving the house during the day in search of food and returning at night.
Johnson has already contacted the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, but has not yet received a response due to Thanksgiving.
