A woman injured on a roller coaster relived her nightmare when video footage was shown in court. It shows Karin Elmegård falling six meters, as people scatter in shock. There were fourteen people on the Jetline ride at Gröna Lund in Stockholm, Sweden, at the time of the tragedy. Suddenly, a support under one of the cars broke. The train stopped abruptly and derailed.
Karin and her husband, Mikael Elmegård, fell from the last car. Mikael managed to cling to a beam.
A young woman was killed, and nine others, including Karin, were injured.
"I was horrified when I saw my wife fall out of the mine cart," Mikael told local reporters. "She was lying on the ground with a bloody face, and I didn't know if she survived."
Despite the surgery, Karin still struggles to cope with everyday tasks after the tragedy on June 25, 2023.
"It's hard for me to watch this footage. But it's even harder to see my beloved being taken down from the beam. He sat there alone, not knowing where I was. It's unbearable," she admitted.
Just before falling six meters, Karin noticed an object fall from one of the mine carts. This triggered a wave of panic.
"I remember falling onto the grass. I'm not sure I would have survived if I'd landed on something harder, like the tracks," the Swede added.
The prosecutor's office claims that Gröna Lund amusement park violated safety regulations and intends to fine the company 18 million Swedish kronor.
Gröna Lund has so far refused to compensate the victims.
Mikael said: "We are pleased that the trial has finally begun, and now we can determine once and for all who is responsible. It is important to us that the guilty party is punished."
