At the Guangzhou Auto Show, Audi unveiled the second model in the lineup of the AUDI brand, created for the local market and distinguished by its letter logo. It's a crossover, which debuted as a concept called the E SUV. The prototype serves as a precursor to the production model, which will appear in 2026.
The show car is quite large: with dimensions of 5057 x 2042 x 1786 mm, it has a wheelbase of 3060 mm. This makes it approximately 180 mm longer and 100 mm longer than the production E5 Sportback liftback. The crossover is also noticeably taller. The exterior of the E SUV shares the same style as the production five-door model: the same distinctive "ring" design on the front and rear, dynamically raked C-pillars, and discreet side trim. The lighting also follows a similar pattern.
According to official figures, the E SUV's two engines produce 680 horsepower, allowing the crossover to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 5 seconds. The new model is equipped with a 109 kWh battery, which should provide a range of over 700 km, and 10 minutes of charging from a high-power station will provide enough energy for a range of 320 km. The more compact and therefore lighter E5 Sportback has a maximum capacity of 100 kWh and a range of 770 km.
The concept's only announced equipment is the AUDI 360 Driving Assist system, developed in China with local road conditions and driving scenarios in mind. The crossover's interior is still being kept under wraps, although it will likely share many features with the already-available E5.
The production version of the E SUV is already being tested on Chinese roads. The sub-brand's lineup is likely to expand in the coming years, as its first model was well received. In mid-September, the E5 Sportback liftback received over 10,000 orders within half an hour of ordering.
