A Porsche 911 abandoned on the street for 31 years was rescued in the US (13 photos)
The first restoration work on the sports car is expected to be completed by the New Year.
The reason why the owner kept the Porsche 911 in a junkyard for 31 years is unclear. During this time, the Targa was almost completely buried, and the interior, thanks to squirrels, was practically buried under a layer of pine cones.
Marcos noted that many people had tried to buy the car before him, but were turned down. This 911 had covered over 160,000 kilometers before it was abandoned. The Targa still has the original two-liter boxer engine.
The current owner has already washed the car, removed worn trim, and removed rusted suspension components. Marzuka also concluded that the stock powertrain can be restored to working order. Despite the sports car's "fatigue," Marcos hopes to have the 911 back on the road by the New Year.
