The world's only Porsche 911 speedster went under the hammer (27 photos)
The bidding for a unique speedster based on the 1988 Porsche 911 3.2 Targa ended recently. The car was created by the famous British racing driver Paul Stevens. It weighs less than a ton and is equipped with a 250-horsepower engine. The new owner got it for 96,000 euros.
Paul Stevens founded AUTOart in 2002. She is engaged in the restoration and modernization of Porsche 911. Only a few cars are made per year to emphasize the exclusivity and quality of the company's work. The team worked on the speedster for two years.
For the project, we took a 1988 911 in a Targa body with a 3.2-liter engine. It may seem that only the upper part of the car has been changed, but this is not so. All panels are new and handcrafted from aluminum. The result is a very high-quality stylization of a 1960s Porsche.
The speedster weighs 950 kilograms.
The body-colored dashboard is reminiscent of the Porsche 550 Spyder. The roof and body pillars have been completely removed. All that remains is a small windshield that diverts the incoming air flow from the driver and passenger.
The six-cylinder boxer engine has not undergone any changes. It works in tandem with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
