How a man bought a warehouse and became a millionaire in one day (4 photos)

In the States, people have been chasing freebies at abandoned warehouse auctions for the past forty years. If you don't pay for storing your junk in a container, all your belongings are auctioned off for next to nothing. They even launched a whole TV show based on the sale, and no one knows what you'll find in any given container warehouse.

One lucky Californian paid exactly $500 for such a warehouse. He opens the door, and there's a safe. He calls for locksmiths. Two of them couldn't get it open, and only the third managed. Imagine everyone's surprise when it turned out the safe contained 7.5 million dollars in cash.



The auction was hosted by Dan Dotson from the show "Storage Wars." This guy has been ruining people's lives by selling their forgotten treasures since the 1970s. Later, at a charity event in Indio, Dan had a hearty laugh: "At first, the guy couldn't open the safe. He called two locksmiths, the third finally got it open—and then his eyes popped out! The money was old, but intact, like it came straight from the bank."





The former owners wake up, see their piggy bank gone for next to nothing, and run to the lawyer faster than I do to the fridge at night. The lawyer calls the new owner: "Give it back, you'll get 600,000." He didn't agree to that offer. They haggled like they were at an oriental bazaar and settled on 1,200,000. The guy gave up 7.75 million, took his 1,200,000, and an extra 500, because the warehouse was his! Bottom line: he invested 500,000, and walked away a millionaire. It's not even a lottery, it's a lottery on steroids!
