Cooks, your jobs are safe! A robot failed a simple kitchen task (5 photos + 2 videos)

Robots may replace humans in factories and warehouses, but chefs shouldn't worry yet. In a viral video that has garnered over 6.3 million views, the Unitree G1 humanoid attempts to cook dinner for its owner, but fails miserably.

The footage shows YouTuber Cody Detwiller, known as WhistlinDiesel, handing a frying pan to the Unitree G1. The $80,000 humanoid loses control, drops the food, and slips.

Unitree claims its robot can "mimic human hands for precise manipulation." However, Detwiller's test showed that the Chinese creation is useless for kitchen work.

Technology fans are actively commenting on the video on social media, many finding it amusing. One user called it "a real comedy."

A clip of unsuccessful culinary experiments with the Unitree G1 was featured in a video titled "What happens if you mistreat a robot?"

In the video, Detwiller uses a remote control to make the humanoid robot crash into walls, doors, and windows.

But that's not all the torture.

"If you can cook, I'll go play Fortnite, okay?" says Detwiller, taping a frying pan to the subject's hand.

However, the test soon gets out of hand: the man and the robot slip on scattered food.

One YouTube user wrote: "This is the most honest, complete, and realistic demo of this robot yet."

Another added, "When he slipped, I laughed so hard I thought I'd choke."

Not everyone was happy with this torture: "Robots will kill this guy in 20 years."

Agreeing with him: "That's why AI will try to destroy humanity in seven years."

A third suggested, "In the future, an AI robot will appear that will see this and launch Skynet."

Unitree G1 weighs 35 kg and stands 1.32 m tall, with 23 degrees of dexterity.

The robot is equipped with an advanced perception system: 3D lidar and a depth camera.

Despite this, the Unitree G1 requires special configuration to perform tasks.

This isn't the first time Unitree humanoids have attracted attention with their strange behavior. Last year, the Chinese manufacturer decided to showcase its achievements by organizing the world's first robot boxing tournament. Although the opponents were able to throw punches, they often struggled to land their punches and stay on their feet.
