A wild boar broke a store window while escaping from dogs
A wild boar, fleeing from a pack of hounds, smashed the glass facade of the "At the Will of the Winds" bakery. The incident occurred in the French commune of Commelles-Vernet.
In an attempt to escape pursuit, the boar left the forest and made an unexpected entrance to the bakery.
Owner Olivier Briz described the incident: "A customer saw the boar approaching and barely managed to jump back—if not, the display case would have fallen on her head." The animal smashed several display cases and damaged shelves before fleeing.
Hunters subsequently shot it on a nearby street. The baker admitted that she was "trembling like a leaf" after the incident.
Guy Verrier, president of the local hunting society, promised that the organization would compensate the bakery owner for the damage. According to him, when the boar suddenly ran toward the retail area, it confused the hunters—they were acting according to regulations and didn't expect the animal to take such a trajectory. All participants in the hunt had the appropriate licenses.
Despite damaged display cases and overturned shelves, the bakery was able to resume operations the very next day after the incident.
