20-year-old Daniel Jackson founded his own country. The Free Republic of Verdis is located between Croatia and Serbia. 
Verdis is located on the Danube between Croatia and Serbia—a stretch of land over which neither country claims direct control. The country covers an area of 50 hectares. The currency is the euro.
The official languages are English, Croatian, and Serbian. The country also has a flag, a coat of arms, and a website outlining its goals: environmental sustainability, human rights, and ethnic reconciliation. There are no taxes (they haven't yet developed a tax system). However, they have declared a commitment to minimal taxation.
Currently, Verdis already has approximately 400 citizens. They were selected from 15,000 applications. Preference is given to medical professionals, police officers, and other specialists. Anyone can apply for citizenship through the country's official website.
