Mjällby Football Club, from the fishing village of Hallevik, a town of approximately 1,500 people, won the Swedish championship for the first time in its 86-year history.

The club has the smallest budget in the top league, and is coached by 59-year-old Anders Torstensson, a former school principal. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2024, but after a brief period of rehabilitation, he continued coaching. Under his leadership, Mjällby has won 20 matches, drawn six, and lost only one this season.

The team dominated the championship from the start, not allowing its opponents to get close. Ultimately, they earned 66 points, putting them beyond the reach of their closest rivals, Hammarby (55 points), with three matches remaining.

The team will now play in the Champions League qualifiers.
