A cinema paradise for cats: a blogger showed off a legendary museum where nearly 60 furry creatures live

23 September 2025

27-year-old Emma Combs visited the Highland Cinema in Canada, which has all the trappings of a proper cinema. However, after she stepped inside, she saw dozens of local cats living nearby.

Emma's video has garnered over 1 million views and gone viral. The blogger herself says the cinema is more than just a place to watch movies, but is also a film museum and a true shelter for abandoned animals.

"It was like a time capsule! You can see projectors from the 1930s, old posters, and entire collections of cinematic treasures. And outside, there are large enclosures where rescued cats live. There's even a film about the cinema's owner," Emma says.

The cinema's website states that they currently care for 58 abandoned cats. Funds are tight, as they have to feed the animals, buy medicine, and pay veterinarians. They even set up donation boxes in the lobby.

Today, the cinema continues to thrive and amaze visitors. For $6, you can not only immerse yourself in the world of film history but also spend time in the company of dozens of furry "audience members."

"It's clear that Highland Cinema began as a passion project. And it's incredible to see how many people love it. It's a place for everyone: from film buffs to those who simply adore cats," says Emma.
