The annual World Stone Throwing Championships were held on the Scottish island of Easdale.
This year, 2,200 participants from 27 countries attended (even though the island has a population of only 60).
Each participant was allowed three throws, and the winner was American Jonathan Jennings, whose stones traveled a total of 177 meters, for which he was awarded an honorary trophy.

It wasn't without controversy: some participants were disqualified for sharpening their stones to improve their "jumping ability."

According to the rules, the projectiles must be made of local shale, no wider than three inches (about 7.62 centimeters), and naturally shaped.
