Dubai has begun construction of the largest airport in the world. This will be the new Dubai World Central Al Maktoum (DWC) terminal, which will be 5 (!) times larger than the current DXB. According to preliminary data, the area will be 70 km2. It will have 400 gates, 5 runways and a passenger flow of 260 million people per year. Within 10 years, DXB's passenger traffic will move entirely to the new terminal. The airport is located in the south of the city, 30 minutes from the Marina, 40 minutes from Downtown and an hour from Abu Dhabi.
