A hospital record was broken: an American woman gave birth to a baby weighing almost 6.5 kilograms (7 photos)

A Florida mother stunned obstetricians when she gave birth to a record-breaking baby boy. He weighed twice the average newborn weight.





40-year-old Danielle Hines gave birth to her son, Annan, on September 3 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Riverview. The boy, weighing 6 kg 320 g, broke the hospital record.

"Everyone in the maternity ward was talking about him," Hines said.

"I remember thinking, 'What are they trying to get out of me? What's going on?' The pressure was unbearable."



When the American woman first saw her son, he seemed enormous. She thought, "Whose child is this? Did he come out of me?"

At just eight days old, Annan was already wearing clothes meant for a nine-month-old.





Anna is the second child for Hines and her husband, Andre; their first child, Andre Jr., was born weighing 5.75 kg.



"Annan is the largest baby in the history of St. Joseph's Hospital," maternity staff reported.

In her post, the mother expressed deep gratitude for the "amazing hospitality" and noted that "Annan's weight was also a surprise to her."

"He is a huge, beautiful blessing," she wrote, adding in the comments, "Yes, I had a C-section."

Hines is 6'11" tall, while her husband is 6'9". She believes this played a big role.



Hines' husband announced on social media that their son has been nicknamed "Sumo."

In March, an Alabama woman gave birth to a baby girl weighing 6 kg.

In 2019, Joy Buckley of New York gave birth to a baby girl weighing 6 kg. 945 g.

"It was like I was hit by two tractor trailers at once," she told The Washington Post the next day.



The current Guinness World Record holder is a boy born in Aversa, Italy, in September 1955. He weighed a whopping 10 kg. 200 g!
