A teacher saw a future dictator in her child (4 photos + 1 video)
A Florida teenager was bullied by his teacher and classmates for his conservative views. The history teacher even presented the student with a certificate in which she called him a "future dictator." The child's mother, Crystal Marull, accused the school of discrimination and appealed to the Board of Education.
Last week, Marull told her story to the State Board of Education: "Alachua County schools are not a good fit for conservative families. They have a toxic environment. Children with conservative views are often discriminated against. My eldest son's history teacher branded him a "Nazi" for his interest in history and his preparation for military service. She later called him "a man who would most likely become a dictator" and asked his students to support her. "They tried to force my son to accept this certificate, which he rightly refused."
"His feelings were hurt, he thought it was inappropriate. But, you see, he's a typical teenager," his mother explained. "He tried to laugh it off so as not to show how much it hurt him."
Boy says classmates mistook his desire to become a diplomat for aspirations for a dictatorship.
In a statement to The Alachua Chronicle, he said, “A series of social media posts by a classmate confused my dreams of becoming a diplomat with my ambitions as a dictator — two 'd' words with very different meanings. It has led to me being targeted by current and former students at Gainesville High School. If high school students can't tell the difference between a diplomat and a dictator, there is something seriously wrong with education.”

The Board of Education wrote, "The staff member involved in the incident has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation."
Marull, a University of Florida professor and coordinator of the online Spanish program, has been vocal in her opposition to sexually explicit books in schools.
She also told the Board that her 6-year-old son was not allowed to sit next to his friend on the school bus because of her beliefs.

A parent has called for Alachua County Schools Superintendent Sarah Rockwell to resign.
Rockwell commented on Hulk Hogan's death by saying "there's one less Trump supporter in the world." She later acknowledged her remarks were frivolous and cruel.
"I never wish ill will on anyone, even if we have different views on politics," the principal added.
