Imagine a guy who has been plowing through mud on construction sites all over China since he was 15, and then suddenly decides: enough is enough, it's time to hit the road. That's exactly what 27-year-old Wen Xiang Pu from Pingdingshan City in Henan Province did. 
He got behind the wheel of his trusty excavator and set off on a journey across the country. In six months, he traveled through 13 provinces and regions, gained more than 550,000 followers on social media, and proved that a real man can turn heavy machinery into a vehicle for adventure.
It all started on March 1st this year. Wen Xiang Pu loaded the excavator with everything he needed: tools, a tent, kitchen utensils, and set off from his home. His car is completely legal, with a full set of documents, so there are no problems with the authorities.
First he headed to Shandong, then to Hebei and Tianjin, and then the route ran through Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Gansu, Qinghai and Tibet. Now he is already in Sichuan, and the journey continues. The guy does not just drive, he lives a full life: he stops in beautiful places, communicates with people and shares everything online.
Wen Xiang Pu is no newbie. From a young age, he mastered the operation of an excavator, worked on countless construction sites across the country. He has a modest education, but his hands are golden. Last year, there was less work, his income fell, and he thought: why wait when you can hit the road and really see China. The excavator literally became his home on wheels.
On the way, he helped out fellow travelers more than once: he cleared rubble on the highway, helped tourists drag heavy loads, even repaired roads in villages so that others could pass safely.
