Alligator filmed swimming with sharks in the USA (6 photos + 1 video)
Alligators and sharks are famous for being sea monsters, but what happens when they're seen together? New video shows an alligator and sharks swimming casually near a dock on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.
Gina Athans, a Chicago native, was on vacation when she witnessed an unusual sight. An alligator was swimming along a dock when a lemon shark approached.
Dozens of onlookers watched the shocking interaction, but the animals did not bother each other.
The video went viral on social media, and users began commenting on it.
“I’m convinced again that I have no business being in the water,” one of them joked.
"They get along great, but if a person falls..." another noted.
"Who's hunting who?" asked a third.

Athans explained that the curious scene took place near the Skull Creek Dockside restaurant. Fishermen were cutting up their catch and throwing the remains into the water, which attracted the predators.
"My first thought was, 'There's no way they're swimming together,'" she recalls.
Lemon sharks, while intimidating, are not considered aggressive toward humans. However, experts recommend swimmers keep their distance.
Morgan Hart of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources told The Island Packet that the two species can coexist and are often seen together.
Sharks and alligators feed on crabs and pose no threat to each other if they are about the same size.
