The Pigeon Festival brought together all lovers of the unofficial symbol of New York (and the second most disliked city creature): people came in feathers and with themed accessories.
The performance of the contestant duo Peck and Wreck was dedicated to the fight for the perfect slice of pizza depicted on a balloon. Other participants of the festival, Meindersma and Erskine, came up with an acrobatic act. “We spent 70 hours over three weeks preparing: rehearsing the act, doing choreography, mixing sound and creating costumes,” Meindersma emphasizes.
The winner of the competition was Miriam Abrahams, who created a dove costume from papier-mâché. It took her a month of work.
