HBO has cast Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley in the upcoming series. Here's what they look like.
HBO has announced the key cast for the upcoming Harry Potter series:
Harry Potter — Dominic McLaughlin;
Hermione Granger — Arabella Stanton;
Ron Weasley — Alastair Stout.
To find the perfect candidates, the show's creators held an open casting call, in which more than 30,000 actors took part. According to showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer Mark Mylod, the choice fell on these actors due to their unique talent.
The creators of the series are confident that Dominic, Arabella and Alastair will cope with their roles perfectly, and expressed gratitude to everyone who participated in the casting.

John Lithgow (The Clave, Dexter) as Albus Dumbledore,
Janet McTeer (Tumbleweed) as Minerva McGonagall,
Paapa Essiedu (Gangs of London) as Severus Snape,
Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead) as Rubeus Hagrid,
Luke Tallon (Leopoldstadt) as Professor Quirrell,
Paul Whitehouse ("Harry and Paul") - Argus Filch.
The series will be a "faithful adaptation of the beloved Harry Potter books," HBO said. The show will be released on HBO Max in 2026. The series will consist of seven seasons, each of which will be an adaptation of one of the seven books by J.K. Rowling.
