Military helicopter Mi-8 crashed in Oryol region of Russia: crew killed
On May 23, a military Mi-8 helicopter crashed in the Oryol region of Russia. Ammunition is currently detonating at the crash site. This was reported by Russian media, Censor.NET reports.
According to ASTRA, the incident occurred at about 2:00 p.m. near the village of Naryshkino in the Uritsky district.
Witnesses reported that immediately after the aircraft crashed, a fire broke out, and then impacts and explosions were heard.
Emergency services are working at the scene. There is no official information yet about the type of helicopter, its affiliation, or possible victims.
At the same time, Mash notes that two people died as a result of the helicopter crash - preliminarily, the pilot and the flight mechanic. The Mi-8 was flying towards the Smolensk region, to its base airfield in the Vyazemsky district. The cause of the emergency was engine failure.
