A ship under the Mexican flag epically crashed into the Brooklyn Bridge in New York
Well, we start this Sunday with news from overseas.
A Mexican Navy vessel arrived in New York for a holiday visit on Tuesday. According to information provided by the Mexican Navy, the Cuauhtemoc, which is 90.5 meters long and 12 meters wide, first set out to sea in 1982.
Every year after classes at the naval academy, it sets sail to complete the training of cadets. This year, the ship departed from the Mexican port of Acapulco, located on the Pacific coast, on April 6. The ship was scheduled to visit 22 ports in 15 countries. The total duration of the voyage was to be 254 days, of which 170 days at sea and 84 days in ports.
But in New York, the bridges were too low. This Saturday, a beautifully decorated ship, under the careful guidance of its captain, rammed the Brooklyn Bridge to the astonished cries of bystanders. The bridge proved stronger and tore down the ship's masts.
According to preliminary information, two people died in the incident, and 19 more were injured, two of whom are in critical condition. There were 277 crew members on board the Cuauhtemoc.
