Robotfall: a big failure of robots in a half marathon with people (7 photos + 1 video)
Recently, the so-called "world's first humanoid robotic half marathon" took place in Beijing, where people competed with humanoid robots, naturally. Everyone expected the robots to show us, but it turned out to be... rather humiliating for them.
Advertising image, in reality everything was funnier and more absurd
A weak, weak robot
Robotics companies, especially Chinese ones, were busy demonstrating their revolutionary creations. I already wrote about the SE01 robot. It can imitate a natural human gait. And Star1 is the fastest robot in the world. NEO Gamma is a humanoid butler with artificial intelligence. And they were all released onto the track and told: "Run!"
A very beautiful frame for the start of the race, and there are reporters there!!!
And so, at the half marathon in Beijing on April 20, 21 robots from different companies were released onto a special treadmill. Quite a lot and impressive! It really deserves the title of "The world's first humanoid robotic half marathon".
Weak kneecaps, we get that
It was supposed to showcase the huge progress made by Chinese robotics companies, but according to some media reports, the event was a complete failure.
They're good at comedy!
I was rooting for the hottie, but she's almost the worst
It turns out some of the humanoid robots were acting weird from the start, spinning in place instead of following the half-marathon route. And others started falling after about 80 meters or so.
Little robot walks hard, but at a slow human pace
A viral collage taken during the race shows the robots stumbling and literally losing their heads as their human escorts try to pick them up. Some of the robots began to show signs of dementia, either freezing in place or straying to the side of the track. The poor escorts were all exhausted, but were unable to stop them from getting "back on track."
Even those who made it through the race were ridiculed for their snail's pace. The robots were slowly followed by human escorts, while dozens of human runners overtook them. Even the robot that crossed the finish line needed several stops to change its battery, indicating that its battery life is not impressive. "It's just walking on a treadmill, is that even running?" asked the half marathon spectators.

Robot, go home, you're drunk!
Well, at least robots are good for comedy. An unexpected discovery of the usefulness of robots. Although I expected impressive results, it was also good for a laugh. I don't consider the race a failure.

This goblin with katanas broke loose and almost beat everyone up. Funny.
