China will hold a competition between people and robots (5 photos)
More precisely, a half marathon, where humanoid robots from the most popular brands will take part in the race along with everyone else. Yes, including Tesla and Boston Dynamics.
But how cool and epic it will look!
In April, such a race for 12,000 people and a couple dozen robots will take place in Beijing, namely in the special technological development zone E-Town. Applications from robots are still being accepted, but the places for real people ran out almost instantly.
For China, 12 thousand places are nothing, but almost everyone wanted to run with Tesla's robot.
If you are a robot, then in order to run, you must have a human appearance, be between 0.5 and 2 meters tall (that's why giant mechs are not allowed - that's sad). And also prove to the organizers that you can run or at least walk on two legs.

Winners, no matter whether they are humans or robots, will receive prize money depending on their results.
Can robots beat humans?
After all, robots don't get tired, they have iron muscles and bones, it's just unrealistic.
In fact, experts say that experienced human runners still have an advantage over bipedal robots.
I'm really looking forward to seeing these dancers from Boston Dynamics participate!
The robots run at 8 to 12 km/h, while to complete a 21.1 km half marathon in an hour and a half, an average speed of 14 km/h is required. Also, the question is, will the robot's battery last that long? And the organizers have already allowed the robots to make pit stops to change batteries (which is unfair, they should only accept robots that can run like a human on a single charge!)
This won't be the first time robots have participated in official running competitions. Last year, the four-legged Laibo 2 robot, developed in South Korea, became the first robot to ever complete a full marathon on a single charge. Now that's fair, it didn't have a recharge.

But he will not be able to take part in the April half marathon, because only bipedal robots were allowed to participate in this event.
Last October, a bipedal robot made in China by Tiangong took part in the Yizhuang Half Marathon in Beijing, but only for photos. In reality, he ran only 100 meters next to the human runners.
This is a photo from the last marathon, where a human allegedly beats the Tiangong robot, but it didn't start from the beginning
The Tiangong robot will also start in April, it has been tweaked, improved, and now they hope that it will run the entire distance this time.
Place your bets, will the robot or the human win? I'm for the human. And I'm also betting that one robot will be pushed off the road by people!
