A woman rented out housing to a needy family and bitterly regretted it (4 photos + 1 video)
A Queensland, Australia woman was furious when she saw her home. Alana Blythe posted a video of the horrific state of the home after the tenants with many children fled.
“My jaw literally dropped because everywhere I looked there were the most disgusting, ugly, vile things you could possibly imagine,” the woman says of the cockroaches, maggots in her pot, and piles of rubbish.
The renovation and cleaning will cost her thousands of dollars.
"They did a lot of damage. Wooden floors... The stench is soaked into the wood, everything will have to be redone. The tenants broke the banisters on the stairs. It's unbelievable how much they managed to do in such a short period of time."
The two-bedroom house was occupied by two adults and five children for about ten months. According to the footage, the parents set up a nursery in the basement, where Alana found a dirty mattress and toys.
The tenants missed their rent payments and simply ran away, leaving behind chaos.
The video, posted on social media, has been viewed tens of thousands of times.
"I don't own a place in Townsville but I dream of owning my own home and people just don't appreciate what they have," one person said.
The second wrote: "Oh my god, I literally feel sick from what I saw!"
"The next time I'm kicking myself for making my daughter's room a mess, I'll remember this video," the viewer wrote.
