Like two peas in a pod: daughter won the same beauty contest as her mother, but 40 years later (5 photos)
Tabitha Bennett, 20, from the UK, was crowned Miss Lancashire last week and has qualified for the national final of Miss England, following in the footsteps of her mother Vicky, who won the title 40 years ago. Photos of the two beauties, who look almost identical, have left the public speechless.
Vicky was a top 15 finalist in 1986. Tabitha is aiming to emulate her mother's achievements by winning the crown and a chance to compete for the Miss World title.
"My mum always encouraged me to enter beauty pageants. One day I thought, 'Why not?' I won Miss Cheshire at the first round and then Miss Blackpool, which my mum also won in 1984," says Tabitha, from Knutsford, who looks "like two peas in a pod" of her mother.
Vicky, 60, who runs a children's clothing store, won "hundreds" of beauty pageant titles in her teenage years. She even competed with current Miss England boss Angie Beasley in the 1980s.
"When Tabitha steps on stage, she becomes a different girl. I've seen her confidence grow every time. This time she was just amazing," Vicky shares.
A hands-on mom helps her daughter find beautiful outfits without spending too much, spending months searching for designer dresses, shoes and accessories on various websites and in charity shops.
Angie Beasley, organiser of Miss England, said: "It was wonderful to see Vicky again after 35+ years. I didn't know she had a daughter who was also competing."
