The world around us is full of amazing details that we often don't even think about.

From the secrets of history and cinema to the curious features of animals and the secrets of food - this collection contains interesting facts that will broaden your horizons and give you food for thought.

1. Dangerous Honey

Honey may contain botulism bacteria. Adults can process them normally, but infants cannot, so children under one year old should not be given honey.

2. The Universal Signal

The distress calls of baby mammals have common elements: a study conducted on the Canadian prairies found that mother deer rushed to the cries of not only baby deer, but also seals, dogs, cats, and even humans.

3. Yoga on Horses

Yoga on horses is practiced in one of the schools in Argentina.

4. The Right Combination

If you add milk to coffee, then because of its fat content, the human body absorbs caffeine more slowly, which weakens its effect.

5. Attention to detail

In the film Titanic (1997), director James Cameron wanted to recreate the interiors of the ship as accurately as possible. To do this, he invited artists to the real sunken Titanic, using underwater vehicles. Many details, such as patterns on the walls and furniture in first class, were copied from the original. However, due to poor visibility underwater, some decorative elements had to be thought out based on photographs and drawings of that time. Moreover, for filming in the pool, an exact copy of the part of the ship that was later sunk was built - this is one of the most expensive props in the history of cinema.

6. Forbidden Fruit

Potatoes were banned in France for 40 years in the 18th century. Authorities believed that the vegetable caused leprosy and other diseases, since it belongs to the nightshade family (which also includes poisonous plants such as belladonna). Later, French agronomist Antoine-Auguste Parmentier changed the attitude towards potatoes, presenting them as a delicacy for the nobility and even guarding potato fields with soldiers to create the appearance of their value. Soon, potatoes became a mainstay of French cuisine.

7. Diamond Ring

A Swiss jeweler has created a $68 million ring made entirely of diamonds.

8. Zombie Hunting

Shotgun maker Mossberg has released a line of guns specifically designed to kill zombies.

9. Golden Zebra

A zebra with golden stripes instead of black ones lives in Hawaii. This color is caused by a pigmentation anomaly called amelanism.

10. Axomamma - the potato goddess

The Incas had a potato goddess - Axomamma, daughter of Pachamama - mother earth. The inhabitants of the settlements found one strangely shaped potato, which they worshiped in the hope of a rich and generous harvest.
