Father and son Giugiaro revived the iconic Maserati concept of the 1970s (21 photos)
A road version of the famous Boomerang from the 1970s was built for a collector from Mexico.
A unique supercar named after him, the Peralta S, was ceremoniously handed over to Mexican car collector Carlos Peralta. It was created by GFG Style, founded by the famous designer Giorgetto Giugiaro and his son Fabrizio, and the source of inspiration for the Peralta S was the 1971 Maserati Boomerang concept. The author of its appearance is also Giorgetto Giugiaro.
The Peralta S has a distinctly modern look, but its wedge-shaped silhouette clearly references the Boomerang. The 54-year-old concept also borrowed its rear end. In addition, like the Boomerang, the Peralta S body panels are made of aluminum, although they are polished to a mirror shine.
A distinctive feature of the new model is the way it gets into the cabin. While the Boomerang had standard doors, the Peralta S received a folding cap: both the transparent roof and the side panels slide forward and up. The cap design includes small lifting windows, reminiscent of "gull wings" in style.
Another reference to the original is the abundance of buttons on the steering wheel for controlling various functions of the supercar. The custom interior is decorated with a lot of carbon fiber and is equipped with alternative seats, while, judging by the photo, the digital display and media system were inherited by the Peralta S from a technical donor.
If the Maserati Boomerang was based on the platform of the serial Bora model, then the Peralta S is based on the "trolley" of the MC20 coupe. There is no official data on the supercar's powertrain, but the standard MC20 is equipped with a 3-liter V6, developing 630 horsepower.
