Both pilots were able to eject in time.
Two Alpha Jet aircraft from the Patrouille de France aerobatic team collided during training in eastern France, near the Ba 113 air base in Saint-Dizier. This was reported by the country's Armed Forces Minister Sebastien Lecornu.
It is noted that the aircraft collided while performing a group turn. According to French media, the pilots managed to eject, but there is no information yet about their health condition.
The wreckage of one of the planes fell on the concrete silos of the Calin construction company in the Villiers-en-Lieux area. There was a minor fire, which was quickly extinguished by firefighters who arrived at the call. The second plane fell into a nearby canal and did not cause any significant damage to the buildings.

The Patrouille de France aerobatic team is known for its air shows at major national holidays in the country. It reportedly arrived at the Saint-Dizier air base on March 24 to rehearse for the summer performance season.
French authorities have promised to investigate the causes of the aviation incident. The main versions include pilot error and technical malfunction.
By the way, the Alpha Jet aircraft, which have been used by the Patrouille de France aerobatic team since 1981, are considered obsolete. They are planned to be replaced by 2032-2035.
