A man earns 42 thousand dollars, lifting tired women up a mountain on his shoulders (3 photos + 1 video)
Xiao Chen, 26, who works on Mount Taishan in Shandong Province, accompanies tourists on their climb to the summit – but many of his female clients often ask him to carry them up the last 1,000 steps.
He starts by holding their hand for most of the climb, and when they get tired, Chen carries them on his shoulders.
The UNESCO World Heritage site is at an altitude of 1,533 metres.
Chen reportedly earns more than 300,000 Chinese yuan (about $42,000) as a "climbing companion" for his female clients, aged between 25 and 40.
He climbs the mountain twice a day, earning about 600 yuan – $83 – for a daytime hike and $54 at night.
The sports school graduate can earn about $6,400 a month. He says he spends about half an hour carrying someone up the last 1,000 steps to the summit.
Due to high demand for his services, Chen has reportedly begun hiring team members to share the workload.
