I was attacked by a shark during my vacation, but it didn’t scare me - I’ll definitely come back (5 photos)

Curtis Miller, 30, was fishing in South Africa when he was attacked by a 140-kilogram predator. The Briton was pulling a hook out of the shark's mouth when it sank its sharp teeth into his hand.





The father-of-two was rushed to hospital, where he received 91 stitches and three arteries were tied. Miller spent the night under observation and was discharged the following morning.

The man told the South Wales Argus he felt no pain but saw blood pouring from his arm. He admits he was scared but that it was "just an accident".

"My accident shouldn't stop me. This trip is the chance of a lifetime and I will definitely be back," he said.



His mother, Helen Miller, 60, was "beside herself" when she heard about the accident.

"I didn't know if he'd lost a leg or an arm. All I could see was his face when he rang. My son said, 'Mum, I have something to tell you, I've been bitten by a shark.' It was the worst nightmare of my life," she recalled.





The man was more worried about missing the last few days of the trip and ruining his tattoo.

Miller's two young children, aged nine and three, were terrified when they found out their dad had been bitten by a shark. They couldn't stop talking about it.

The traveller returned to the UK this week and is due to undergo further treatment.





In February, a shark attacked two American women in Bimini Bay in the Bahamas. The victims were rushed to the nearby island of New Providence for medical assistance.

"The U.S. citizens were injured while swimming in Bimini Bay. The injuries to one of the victims are considered serious. The investigation is ongoing," police said.
