79-year-old actor John Lithgow will play Albus Dumbledore in the new Harry Potter series. The actor himself spoke about this. According to the actor, it was a difficult decision because of his age.





John Lithgow, in a conversation with the ScreenRant portal, announced that he will play Professor Dumbledore in the upcoming Harry Potter series from HBO. Thus, the artist confirmed his participation in the project.

The actor said that the role will certainly determine the "last chapter of his life." He noted that due to his age, it was not easy to accept this offer, since filming all seasons will take at least eight years.



Lithgow was the first confirmed actor in the fantasy drama. Casting has been going on for several months, but the creators of the series have not yet made any statements about who will play the main characters.





Francesca Gardiner, one of the key writers of the last seasons of "Descendants", is working on "Harry Potter" as a showrunner. Some episodes will be directed by Mark Mylod, who directed the comedy thriller "Menu".
