For Adam and Lauren, the best part of their new home is the ability to explore new places without leaving home. They recently opened up about their monthly expenses.
A 30-year-old couple, Adam Lind and Lauren Cowley Lind, decided to move onto an 60-foot boat to avoid expensive rent. The lovebirds, who met at university and were drawn together by their love of adventure, recently opened up about their monthly expenses.
After returning home from hitchhiking from the UK to Iran, the adventurous duo spent some time living with Lauren's mum. One day, they talked to a friend who lived on a boat and started considering it for themselves.
Living on a boat
After some thought, they found their future home on Facebook Marketplace for £38,000. The narrow-body boat was in great condition – quite habitable, but the couple wanted to do a little cosmetic work.
"We completely renovated the bathroom and turned the deck into a conservatory," says Lauren, adding that they also updated part of the kitchen and painted the bedroom.
For a couple who grow their own herbs, fruit and vegetables during the summer, being able to explore new places without leaving home is the best part. Their adventurous lifestyle has attracted the attention of almost 390,000 TikTok followers.
In one of their latest videos, Adam and Lauren revealed that they spend around £412 a month. They buy diesel fuel, coal and bottled gas, among other things. Other expenses include boat loans, insurance and Wi-Fi.
