A 1991 Porsche was valued more than a new Bugatti Chiron (30 photos)

On February 18, a 1991 Porsche 911 will be put up for auction. The car was estimated at between $3.22 and $3.72 million. For comparison, the starting price of the Bugatti Chiron hypercar was $3 million. Such a high estimate is explained by the fact that, in fact, this is no longer a Porsche: the sports car was completely rebuilt by the famous Singer studio, and a number of details make the car unique.





The coupe is part of the Singer DLS (Dynamics and Lightweighting Study) line, which was developed with the participation of a number of famous companies. The sports car was engineered in partnership with Williams, the seats were developed by Recaro, and the tires and 18-inch wheels were developed jointly by Michelin and BBS.

The Singer DLS differs from the original Porsche 911 (964) in its carbon body with improved aerodynamics, new suspension and an alternative power unit, which nevertheless retained air cooling. The four-liter "boxer", created at Williams using formula technologies, develops 500 horsepower. At the time of its debut, this engine was called one of the best units of this type in the world.

In total, the Singer studio built only 75 DLS copies. But the example put up for sale has a unique finish and therefore bears its own name Oppenheimer Commission in honor of one of the largest diamonds, Oppenheimer Blue. For example, a particularly deep blue shade was selected from the Mercedes-Benz palette for its body, referring to the color of a diamond, and equipped with carbon and titanium inserts. The interior is decorated with cream leather, Alcantara and carbon fiber, which echo the color of the body. Sellers call the design of the engine compartment a particularly attractive feature of the car.

The assembly of the sports car was completed in 2023, and since then this Singer DLS has traveled less than 120 kilometers.
